About

Arthur Williams is a broadcaster, presenter and former Royal Marine whose TV programmes have won universal praise.

Arthur made his breakthrough in TV after a screen test to become one of Channel 4’s leading presenters for their London 2012 Paralympics coverage quickly turned into Arthur securing himself the job.

After impressing at the games, Channel 4 offered Arthur the chance to remain with them and cover more sports and events. He has gone on to present Channel 4’s Paralympic coverage every year since 2012, as well as the Swimming Para Championships and the PyeongChang Winter Paralympic Games.

As a Royal Marine serving with both Lima Company 42 Commando and 6 Assault Squadron, Arthur was an active and extremely fit individual. He served in Sierra Leone aboard HMS Albion and was specially trained as a signaller in sophisticated military communications and data transfer. However, a severe car crash in 2007 resulted in Arthur being paralysed from the waist down. Courageously, this is when he rebuilt his life and set his sights on a career in media. Alongside this, Arthur also had his sights set on becoming a pilot and before long Arthur had taken his first trial lesson and was hooked. He subsequently went on to gain his private pilot’s license.

Arthur made his first breakthrough as a factual presenter on Channel 4 using his knowledge and passion for military history as a reporter for the widely acclaimed two-part series, D-Day As It Happened. Arthur followed this up with a 60-minute authored documentary, The Plane That Saved Britain. The film centred on Arthur’s love for the unheralded World War II aeroplane, the de Havilland Mosquito. Arthur presented a second series of Channel 4’s Flying to the Ends of the Earth; the series saw Arthur fly into some of the world’s most remote and inaccessible locations, taking in Siberia, the South Pacific Islands, and the Peruvian jungle. His series for Channel 4, Flying Across Britain with Arthur Williams, was an exploration of Britain from the air as Arthur took to the skies in his own 1940s Piper Cub aircraft, exploring the UK’s oldest and most unique airfields.

Arthur has continued to present and author several leading documentaries on his expertise of military history, travel and aviation. Some of Arthur’s commissions have also included Channel 4’s three-part series, 48 Hours to Victory, presented alongside Dermot O’Leary, How Britain Won World War II and Walking Wartime Britain, both for Channel 5. He has also presented alongside Peter Snow and Andi Peters on Plane Spotting Live for BBC 4, revealing the hidden histories, engineering marvels and true pleasures of plane spotting.

More recent commissions for Arthur have included two separate series for Nat Geo - Secrets of World War II From Above and Defending Europe.

Arthur is an excellent and highly regarded inspirational speaker and corporate presenter and continues to work with the likes of Embraer and BA.

In his spare time Arthur is a qualified flying instructor and when he’s not taking to the skies teaching, you can find him renovating properties and getting stuck in with DIY projects.
