Oliver Bullough is an award-winning author and journalist who specialises in financial crime, the former Soviet Union, and offshore skulduggery.
As a journalist, his work has appeared in the Guardian, the Sunday Times, the New York Times and BBC Radio and he is a contributing editor to Coda, an independent news site that does in depth reporting on a few key global stories.
After graduating from Oxford University in 1999, Oliver took a Russian language course and got hired by a Saint Petersburg English language magazine. After a year there, Oliver was employed by The Times of Central Asia, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
His book, Butler to the World: How Britain became the servant of tycoons, tax dodgers, kleptocrats and criminals was published in 2022. The book explores Britain’s role as a centre for the enabling of financial crime, and was listed as a Best Book of the year by The Economist, The Times, Sunday Times, New Yorker and the Financial Times.
Another of his books, Moneyland, explored global kleptocracy and was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize.
