Lewis Goodall

Lewis Goodall is Analysis and Investigations Editor at Global, presenter of Sunday with Lewis Goodall on LBC, and co-presenter of The News Agents podcast alongside Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel. In 2024, The News Agents received both the Best News & Current Affairs award and the Spotlight Award at the British Podcast Awards.

Goodall has worked across BBC television and radio, producing and presenting documentaries and covering government, public policy and economics. Earlier in his career, he was a political correspondent for Sky News, wrote questions for University Challenge, and interned in the US Congress for Colorado Representative Diana DeGette.

He began his broadcasting career in 2010 as a researcher at Granada Television, working on University Challenge. In 2011 he joined the Institute for Public Policy Research, before moving to the BBC in 2012. There he worked as a producer and reporter on programmes including Victoria Derbyshire and BBC Radio 4, where his work included the documentary Generation Right, examining changing political attitudes among younger people.

In 2017, Goodall joined Sky News as Political Correspondent. During his time there, he spent two years travelling around the UK in the “Lewis Lorry,” reporting on how Brexit was affecting businesses, communities and places that received relatively little national media attention.

After three years at Sky, he returned to the BBC as Policy Editor for Newsnight and became increasingly involved in the BBC’s election coverage. His reporting has included the war in Ukraine and refugee crisis, post-Grenfell building safety, and the 2020 schools examination crisis. His work on the latter earned him an Orwell Prize nomination.

In September 2022, he joined Global to co-present The News Agents and became its Analysis & Investigations Editor, working across video journalism, breaking news, podcasts, social media and LBC.

Goodall is also the author of the 2018 book Left for Dead? The Strange Death and Rebirth of the Labour Party, which examines the Labour Party’s changing fortunes in the 21st century, from the Blair era through Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership and its implications for the party’s future.
