Angus Ashworth

Angus Ashworth is an antiques expert, auctioneer and businessman who runs the auction house, Ryedale Auctioneers in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire.

Warm and charismatic, Angus presents the hugely popular hit TV series The Yorkshire Auction House and celebrity spin off Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House, which air on both the Really and Quest channels.

The series sees Angus and his team helping people up and down the country to uncover and bring to auction, often forgotten or unused antiques and family heirlooms, in a bid to uncover the fascinating stories behind them and to assess their value in an exciting reveal on auction day.

An incredibly well respected and experienced auctioneer and antiques specialist, Angus has also appeared on the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip, STV’s Clear Out, Cash In, Posh Pawn Brokers for Channel 4, and appeared on Celebrity Antique's Road Trip alongside Laila Morse and Rita Simons.

Yorkshire born and bred, Angus left school at 16 to pursue his career as an auctioneer, specialising in militaria, railwayana and antiques. After a few years learning the trade, he joined the family business in marine engineering and then joined the Territorial Army which saw him called up for service in Iraq in 2005 and Afghanistan in 2009.

In 2010 he returned to his first love, the antiques trade and launched Ryedale Auctioneers, which offers regular auctions across antiques and collectables, vintage items, furniture, furnishings and art. The auction house also regularly hosts bespoke specialist sales and as a bustling Yorkshire based business, sells in excess of 20,000 lots per year.

Angus’ passion for and extensive knowledge of his trade is infectious and alongside running his business and his regular TV and media work, Angus is unsurprisingly an extremely popular corporate after dinner speaker and charity auction host, having hosted across a wide array of events from bespoke events within his local community to large scale black tie awards and events up and down the country.

When not at the auction house or on our screens, Angus’ wider interests include history, the outdoors and food.
