Philip Collins has spent his career moving between the worlds of finance, politics and journalism, bringing a rare, insider's understanding of power and persuasion to everything he writes and says. He began in investment banking, working as a highly regarded equity strategist, before shifting into politics as an advisor to MP Frank Field.

That political grounding led to the defining role of his career: Chief Speechwriter to Tony Blair inside 10 Downing Street, a position that placed him at the heart of government during some of its most consequential moments. He wrote Blair's final speech as Leader of the Labour Party, a moment now regarded as one of the great set-pieces of modern British political oratory.

After leaving Downing Street, Philip built a second career in journalism, becoming known for commentary that combines sharp, straight-talking analysis with genuine insider knowledge of how government actually works. He has written for The Times, the Evening Standard, the New Statesman and the Guardian, establishing himself as one of the most widely read political commentators in the UK.

In 2018, he founded The Draft, a bureau of writers helping senior leaders and organisations sharpen their arguments and communicate with greater impact. He is the author of six books, and has previously held senior roles at two of London's leading think tanks, Demos and the Social Market Foundation, alongside a visiting fellowship at the University of Oxford.
