Idris Elba

Winner of a Golden Globe, SAG Award and four Emmy nominations, Idris Elba is an internationally acclaimed British actor, filmmaker, musician, entrepreneur, and activist, who continues to solidify his status as one of Hollywood’s most dynamic talents.

Idris’ career skyrocketed when he landed the role of Stringer Bell in HBO’s critically acclaimed series The Wire (NAACP Image Award nomination), and then as the lead in the BBC drama Luther, for which he received the aforementioned Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and was nominated for four Emmy Awards.

More recently, in 2024 he took on the starring role in the Apple TV+ thriller Hijack, where he also contributed as an Executive Producer.

Behind the camera, Idris Elba made his feature-film directorial debut at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival with Yardie. In 2013, he founded his Production Company, Green Door Pictures, to champion diversity of thought. With Green Door, Idris released the documentary Mandela, My Dad and Me, produced the TV mini-series Guerrilla for Showtime and created, produced and appears in the Sky comedy series In the Long Run.

His ventures in filmmaking have led Idris to various African countries, including Ghana, Rwanda, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He is the Co-Founder of Sherbro Alliance Partners and President of the Elba Hope Foundation.
