After what many would consider being a miracle, Anthony Bennett was given only a 10% chance of survival after he contracted three viral infections that left him fighting for his life.
In 2006, whilst travelling back from Disneyland Paris Anthony became ill with Streph-Pneumonia, Influenza, and Staphylococcus with catastrophic effects; his white blood cells reduced to zero, he suffered from a seizure whilst in a coma, and he was resuscitated an amazing 12 times!
Fighting the odds, Anthony relearnt how to walk, talk and breathe again, and has made a full recovery. He now spends his time inspiring businesses, schools, and organisations with his optimism and bubbly personality, in addition to his fund raising achievements.
One of his remarkable efforts was when he played a major role in winning a £7.5m Charity Partnership between Whitbread PLC and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Anthony spent four years involved in the project to inspire teams to get involved in raising the much-needed funds for the children’s charity. The money went towards the construction of a brand new cardiac hospital wing, which has helped treat up to 20% more children.

At our recent Pride and Practice event, Salisbury NHS had the privilege of hearing the personal journey of Anthony Bennett.
