Born and raised in Peckham, Katy B has drawn on her South East London roots with the area’s strong rave culture and pirate radio heritage to forge her own distinctive place in British dance music.
Her debut album, On a Mission, was both a commercial and critical success. Its title track and the Ms Dynamite-assisted ‘Lights On’ reached the UK Top Five, and earned her nominations for the Ivor Novello and Mercury Prize.
In 2014, Katy returned with Little Red, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart on the week of its release. She went on to top the UK Singles Chart with KDA and Tinie Tempah on ‘Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)’.
Her 2016 collaborative project, Honey, further expanded her musical horizons, bringing together an eclectic cast of collaborators, including Kaytranada and Floating Points. Seamlessly moving between cerebral electronica with four-to-the-floor club bangers, the record showcased Katy’s instinct for connecting musical worlds. Across her career, she has received five MOBO Award nominations and won an NME Award for Dancefloor Anthem.
In 2025, Katy brought her unmistakable energy to some of the UK’s most celebrated live music stages, performing at London’s iconic Roundhouse, joining MJ Cole for guest vocals at We Out Here Festival and playing two sets at Glastonbury.
Katy B remains a vital voice and songwriter in UK dance music, continuing to evolve while staying true to the sounds and communities that shaped her. That connection to her roots now extends beyond the stage: as the first-ever ambassador for Peckham Studios, a community-driven music and recording space, she is helping champion the next generation of talent emerging from South East London.
