Twice nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show, Ian Smith is a multi-award-winning comedian, actor and writer whose quick wit, sharp observational humour and natural northern charm have made him a favourite on stage, screen and radio.
An accomplished corporate comedian and awards host, Ian brings warmth, energy and spontaneity to every event. His friendly, engaging style puts audiences at ease, while his ability to read a room and tailor his material ensures the comedy feels relevant, personal and perfectly pitched. He takes time to research each client and their industry, and is as professional and easy to work with behind the scenes as he is entertaining on stage.
Ian is a familiar face on television, with appearances on Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, QI, House of Games and Celebrity Mastermind. He has fronted two series of his own stand-up show, Ian Smith is Stressed, and co-hosts the popular Northern News podcast with comedian Amy Gledhill.
His live comedy has earned widespread critical acclaim. His 2023 Edinburgh Fringe show, Crushing, received an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination before enjoying an extended, sell-out run at London's Soho Theatre and a national tour. His follow-up, Foot Spa Half Empty, earned a second nomination, sold out its entire Fringe run and led to his biggest UK tour to date, further sold-out Soho Theatre dates and an invitation to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Ian is also an accomplished actor, with credits including BBC Two sitcom Popatron, Sky comedy Officially Special alongside Katherine Parkinson, and BBC One drama The Ark. He has also appeared in The Emily Atack Show, Siblings, Pls Like and The Syndicate.

Ian was brilliant, he really got the whole vibe of the event and complimented it beautifully. He’d done his research for his short set, and was super communicative and helpful all the time he was onsite.
Ian was the perfect host for our awards ceremony. His northern charm really complimented the Manchester event, and he was able to tailor his material to suit our audience and suggestions. We received such positive feedback from our guests, I’d highly recommend Ian for corporate events, very friendly and a pleasure to work with.
