Priya Lakhani OBE

Priya Lakhani is the founder and CEO of CENTURY Tech, an artificial intelligence and education technology company that builds learning tools for schools, colleges and universities. Her work at CENTURY has centred on how technology can be used responsibly to personalise learning, improve assessment, support student wellbeing, and give educators and education systems meaningful insights at scale.

Before founding CENTURY Tech, Priya trained as a barrister. She left the legal profession to build a successful fast-moving consumer goods business, alongside establishing a charitable foundation that has funded millions of meals, thousands of vaccinations, and the creation of several schools.

Priya has played a significant role in advising government on artificial intelligence, technology and regulation. She was appointed to the UK Government's AI Council, served as a Non-Executive Board Member at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, advised Sir Patrick Vallance on the Pro-Innovation Regulation of Technologies Review, and sits on the Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology. She also co-founded the Institute for Ethical AI in Education.

Her work has been recognised internationally. Priya was selected as a Tech Pioneer by the World Economic Forum and has received numerous awards, including National Economic Innovator of the Year, Business Entrepreneur of the Year, and honours from The Mayor's Fund and MIT. She was awarded an OBE for services to education, holds an honorary doctorate from Coventry University's engineering faculty, and is Honorary Vice President of the Council of British International Schools.

Priya is co-host of AI Decoded, the BBC's flagship programme on artificial intelligence, and speaks regularly on AI, skills, education, entrepreneurship, purpose and innovation.
