James is a multi-award-winning presenter, comedian, influencer, and DJ. He presents Hits Radio's Breakfast Show every weekday morning alongside Fleur East and Matt Haslam. The success of their show is reflected by them winning the Silver Award for Best Breakfast Show at the prestigious ARIA Awards in 2020.
James has also gained national recognition for his stand-up comedy. His latest show, Sorry I Hurt Your Son (Said My Ex To My Mum) tackles domestic violence in same-sex couples and earned critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024. Reviews hailed it as “a moving and candid stand-up show” (Chortle) and “a compelling story demonstrating triumph over adversity” (LondonTheatre1), earning features in The Guardian and The Independent.
In addition to his comedic success, James is the co-founder and host of the top LGBT+ podcast A Gay And A Non Gay, which won Silver for Best Sex & Relationship Podcast at the 2022 British Podcast Awards. The podcast was also named one of the Top 10 Online Influencers at the British LGBT Awards. James and his co-host performed to sold-out audiences at the Just For Laughs 2023 London Festival at the O2.
James has also hosted BBC Radio 1’s Sashay To Hell, a documentary highlighting LGBT+ representation in the rock and heavy metal music industry, and has fronted MTV News, interviewing stars like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Chloe Grace Moretz.
James is a regular columnist for Attitude magazine and a patron of several LGBT+ charities, including Student Pride. He has presented live at major events such as the Isle of Wight Festival, both Brighton and Manchester Pride, and has appeared on TV shows including Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, BBC Breakfast, and Good Morning Britain. As a host, James has worked on live shows for major companies like Compare The Market and Lloyds Bank.
His stand-up career has been marked by hit shows such as Thirst Trap (2019), which was called “An absolute triumph” by The Sun, and his UK-wide 2023 tour of Straight Jokes, praised as “A masterpiece in queer storytelling” by Metro. James is also the founder and host of All Barr Huns, an LGBT+ stand-up show that has sold out in London, Brighton, and Edinburgh. Later in 2025 his show, Sorry I Hurt Your Son, is touring the UK and Australia which further solidifies his reputation as a brave, bold, and funny storyteller.
