His first book, The Joy of Work, was a Sunday Times bestseller and translated into 16 languages, and his podcast ,Eat Sleep Work Repeat, has been an Apple number one business podcast and featured psychologists, neuroscientists and workplace experts including Daniel Pink, Scott Galloway, Noreena Hertz and Rutger Bregman.
He is the former European Vice President for Twitter — the company's most senior leader outside of the USA.
Bruce Daisley has become regarded as one of the most respected thought leaders on the subject of workplace culture and the future of work, with LinkedIn declaring him one of the world's top 10 voices on the topic.
His prior business career saw him spend 12 years as one of the best known technology leaders in the country, first running YouTube in UK (2008-2011) and then Twitter across Europe, Middle East & Africa. In this time, a high profile survey of industry leaders voted Bruce 'Fantasy Hire' that most of them would like to make. He ended up winning the award four times. (For context he came in ahead of Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Sir Martin Sorrell).
Bruce grew up in Birmingham, West Midlands, where his mother worked on the production line for Cadbury Creme Eggs and his father was a bricklayer. At 16, he began working in fast food outlets like McDonald’s and Burger King, bars and restaurants, and it was during this period that he developed a fascination with workplace culture.
He began working in the tech industry during 1993, when he sent Capital Radio a hand-drawn comic strip CV and was offered a job as a production assistant. Having worked in media sales he set up YouTube’s UK division in 2008, following Google’s earlier acquisition of the video streaming service in 2006. Bruce was then hired by Twitter in 2012, where he ran the social network’s European operation until resigning early in 2020.
Campaign magazine said Twitter UK 'formed a reputation for being one of the most respected cultures [in the media/tech industry]... Bruce Daisley can reflect on building something particularly special.' The UK culture was celebrated as the best in the global organisation.
Following the remarkable success of his debut book, The Joy of Work which reached number one in the Sunday Times charts, in 2022 his second bestseller, Fortitude, was named by the Financial Times as the best business book of the year.
Bruce's writing has featured in the Washington Post, The Guardian, Harvard Business Review, the Wall Street Journal and The Daily Telegraph amongst other publications.
Bruce Daisley has spent the last few years turning his passion for workplace culture into an expertise. His award-winning podcast, Eat Sleep Work Repeat, has topped the business charts and has been listened to over five million times. It has been named the world's best podcast on workplace culture.
Having led at some of the fastest moving and high profile companies in the world Bruce understands that there's a big difference between what might work in theory and what actually works in practice. His discussions about workplace culture are always filled with practicality, warmth and often humour. As well as keynote speaking he regularly works with leadership teams articulating and implementing cultural programs.
Bruce is an Honorary Visiting Professor at Bayes Business School and regularly teaches at London Business School.
Bruce Daisley is a regular on the conference keynote speaking circuit, working with business leaders and teams to help organisations refresh their company culture, creating and sustaining positive high performance cultures.
He has been one of the Evening Standard’s 1,000 Most Influential Londoners for four years and is one of Debrett’s 500 Most Influential People in Britain.
Campaign magazine asserted that Bruce is “one of the most talented people in media”.
