Galen D. Burghardt, Ph.D. is Director of Institutional Research for Newedge USA, a joint venture between Calyon and Societe Generale. He conducts futures and options training for industry professionals.
Born in Seattle, Washington, Galen was an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Chicago and still teaches course there through its Executive Education program. Previously, he held executive positions at the Discount Corporation of New York Futures and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and was an economist for the Federal Reserve in Washington DC.
Galen D. Burghardt recently released his co-authored book, ‘Managed Futures for Institutional Investors' (Bloomberg Financial, 2011). Previous publications include ‘The Treasury Bond Basis: An In Depth Analysis for Hedgers, Speculators and Arbitrageurs' (Probus Publishing, 2005), ‘Eurodollar Futures and Options' (McGraw-Hill Education, 2003) and ‘Eurodollar Futures and Options: Controlling Money Market Risk' (McGraw-Hill Publishing, 1991).
He has a bachelor's degree and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington.
